Tijuana Danger Dogs are to Die For!!!

The Tijuana
Danger Dogs were playing last night, Friday, April Fool’s Day, at BARLEYCORN,
216 Front St, Owego, NY, and it was not, a waste of a drive! Even after, I had to drive back to Appalachian
for my wallet, I left at a gas station!
The
bar/restaurant, located right above the river, is a very neat establishment,
with a real home feeling to it. It is decorated, to the max with incredible
wood trimming, and more wood! You can feel as though you stepped into a
mountain lodge, for sure! There is lots
of neat vintage signage, a brand new looking dart board, and a long beautifully
crafted wooden bar, with a very, very friendly male and female staff tending
it, as well as, the restaurant portion, of Barleycorn. The drinks are
delicious, and the food smelled great!
When I
entered this place around 8pm, it was still packed to the max, and I was lucky
to find one table still open, all the way up front, near the band, Tijuana
Danger Dogs!
First off,
if you’re just simply looking for attractive people who play music, these are
the guys! All 3 members, a female, and 2 males, are quite attractive in their
own rights, and that just adds to the amazing quality of their music, which I
will attack next!
You,
yourself, can go to https://tijuanadangerdog.com,
to see all about this amazing construction of a band, that has progressed
itself over the past 6 years!
Originally,
band members Michael Toyryla, who survived an almost tragic accident, which
left him paralyzed for some time, and Jesse Wheeler, first put their group
together in 2011, and put out recordings such as, “Total Control”, “49%”, “Paranoia”,
“Pretty Face”, and “El Nino”, including their full album, “Danger Is Our Middle
Name”, in 2014.
Tijuana
Danger Dogs, have been compared to the likes of BECK, NINE INCH NAILS, &
LMFAO!! Now, with very talented Kaite Fiato,
who has joined the group, with her mesmerizing vocals, percussion, and even a
flute, to boot!
TDD
instrumentally, uses a 3-piece-guitar, electronic loops, percussion, and the
flute!
So, this
past Friday the 1st, of April, 2016, I decided to take a listen to
this small, and unique group.
My son, and
I were fascinated by the stylings of the vocals, and the incredible, power
driven sound, in which, they seem to mix funk, grunge, Americana Delta maybe,
and their own original sound, to very familiar hits, from the 70s, 80s, and 90’s
and now! Both the lead singer Michael, and Katie, are very professional
singers, and musicians, and handle their instruments with depth, and intricacy!
I loved to hear their blended harmonies, and Michael really crooned out some
interesting stylings, that really had me feeling great, and entertained to the
max!
Honestly, if
I didn’t have another group to see and review, I wouldn’t have left listening
to these guys. That, also, doesn’t deter from the group I went to hear at all,
by far!!
Jesse
Wheeler, the leader of the band, was very nice in speaking with me briefly, while
setting sound, never an easy task, in a bar atmosphere. Jesse is very adept at
his guitar playing skills, and slid up and down, and twiddled his fingers in a
very professional, and awesome sounding manner!
Although,
the crowd seemed to dissipate a bit by 9pm, whoever was still there, were
plenty focused on this group, and their music, and singing and dancing along,
as well.
So, if you
get a chance to see the Tijuana Danger Dogs anywhere locally, or beyond, don’t
miss out!! They are awesome, enjoyable, but relaxing to listen to, and very
original in their sound, and band make-up, with a nice easy going attitude, to
fit their music and style of dress!
Thanks to a
great bar in Barleycorn, Owego! Thanks a lot to the Tijuana Danger Dogs, for
not wasting my gas!! LOL. Just kidding! You guys were excellent!
