Obssessively, Compulsively, and Disorderly crazy about these Rough, "Tooth & Nail"er's!!!

Obssessively, Compulsively, and Disorderly crazy about these Rough, “Tooth & Nail”er’s!!!

I’m sorry Chap…. What was that again??? Dokken, you say??? Hmmmm, nope, never heard of ‘em!!! But I gotta tell ya about this blokin’ band O.C.D., I heard at a couple places the past week!!!

Seriously though, if you have not heard the enriching, splendid, hard, brash, bold, and exciting sound of the greatest cover rock band, and original writers I’ve heard in over 30 years, worldwide, O…..C……D…..then, you have not heard all of what I just said! Basically……

As mentioned on Facebook, I forgot that George Lynch, “Considered to be one of the most influential and famous 80’s metal guitarists” (Google Search Result: www.georgelynch.com/), an original master, in my mind, of riffing beyond belief, with what might be the most familiar guitar solo in history, from the famous Dokken tune, “Tooth And Nail” (09/13/1984); was the original player of this tune, after hearing the amazing recent Floridian, Dan Almy, pulsate his fingers, and “Twitter, and Tweet” them, in a way I hadn’t heard, since my early 80’s days! I previously saw Dan doing more intense damage to his guitar at the 2016 Shelter Slam (Magic City Music Hall), in a way, that mesmerized the crowd into submission of moving along, and watching his every move!  Oh, and he sings like a champion, to boot.

Of course, every member of the band takes hold of your attention, at some point, in their own way, and it’s with both talent, and personality, that these 4 guys create a large following, packed houses, and plenty of smiles and good times going around real people, real earthlings, realists….

James “Packrat” Bates pounds, and beats away with his huge fingers on his bass guitar! With fierce, but then twisting, emotional expressions, he pulls in your focus to both of those areas, and you bounce back and forth between instrument and face, and wonder why, they aren’t on National Tour, with millions getting to hear how well they play their crafts….  I, haven’t even gotten to the other two yet, very impressive in their own rights as well, and in no certain hierarchy.

Andy Gore, known around here for his phenomenal voice, and huge range, that reaches the hemisphere, was steel-throated, but honey coated, in emitting classic rock tunes, with precise pitch, quality tones, long hair, and Steve Perry qualities, only seen by, well…. Steve Perry, himself…. Andy is a master at his vocal craft, and his years of experience, practice, and strengthening shows off like a UFO crashing into the Moon! I guarantee, you wouldn’t miss that kind of stuff!! So, why miss these guys at all, ever, if you don’t have to…O.C.D. at Toppers, in Endicott, controlled the atmosphere, with wicked lighting, sound, and staging, and was perfectly set against the background of a nice bar, restaurant atmosphere.

When taking pics of these guys, and some video, I had to be sure to get to center, and zoom in on the witchery of drummer Doug Day and his arm extensions, as he couldn’t miss a stroke on the sheepskins!! Or whatever they use these days… He was intense, serious, deep, and concentrating, in keeping the tempo, rhythm, and beat, right where it belonged, without hesitation!

So, what do YOU do on Friday and Saturday nights?  Are you home alone, or with a friend trying to figure it all out?…. Do you and your loved one, need a nonjudgemental, and rocking place to hang? Go to Toppers in Endicott, directly behind the small mall in Four Corners, across from Phil’s Chicken House, and you’ll feel neatly tucked into a perfect atmosphere, to sing, talk, listen, and rock along, with amazing bands like O.C.D.!!
